Synopsis
Alena moved to a small town to start a restaurant, not to tangle with a demon. But when the monster messes with her wifi, ruins her roommate’s date, and threatens to commit mass murder, she’s forced to put her plans on hold. Impossible phenomena and a chaotic stalker lead her to a grandfather clock with backward numbers. The ghost inside believes she’s there to help it escape, and offers to show her the world through its eyes. With one fateful glimpse, Alena ignites a journey that becomes much more than a trade of sanity for safety, and enters a long entrenched battle for the sovereignty of the soul. The Ghost in the Clock is the inaugural episode of Hunting Midnight, a paranormal adventure series that shatters genre expectations by delivering as much charm as it does creepshow, as many smiles as it does spooks, and an unforgettably unique cast of villains and heroes.
Author’s notes
It’s been a while since I’ve had this much fun writing a story, and I’m confident that the energy contained within will keep the Writer in me going until the end of the ‘season’ (guessing an odd number of episodes, likely seven). Hopefully some Readers keep tag along for the ride as well! The two main characters, Alena and Deluxe, were actually written into a totally different, non-paranormal/urban fantasy setting many moons ago… early 2016 I believe. It was four or five chapters in a story that had no solid plot or plan to it (hence, it did not get completed), and it started with the moment Alena first meets Deluxe in a nameless Big North American City. The dynamic that they share and their character voices came very naturally, and I missed writing them big time… so when the idea to make an episodic paranormal serial bubbled up in my head, it was a no-brainer to recruit the two personalities.
