Preposterous!
I am still chiseling away at the dream, albeit the regular blogging habit has fallen off. Important habits, however, have not! They include:
Writing every day
Velocity had slowed, and I’ve been counting things like Instagram related copy towards the count on the slowest days, but I’ve been making words and keeping in the writing mindset every single day. Hunting Midnight is in Episode 7, and Ep3 is ready for editing.
Tracking every day
My excel tracker captures more than words. It’s got exercise, my kombucha batches, cashflow notes and other things. I open this file pretty much daily, and it also helps keep things moving.
Saving $$$
I’ve some auto deposit saving systems set up as well as a little nest egg and debt repayment scheme rolling. This habit is easy to maintain, but an important one to note. Anti-habits that help sustain it include: avoiding too much eating out, no unnecessary purchases, meting out social engagements (say “no” to some things). Soon, I’ll divert some cash into a writing promotion fund.
Exercise
From November 2017 to February 2018 , I was a lazy bastard (only “exercise” came from walking a lot). Since March, I’ve logged 27 earnest gym/exercise days. That’s about a 30% rate, planning to maintain or improve it!
Side projects
- Crestfallen is out! Some setbacks re: PDF files have stalled the paperback release.
- Working on a cool music webite
- Likely will be building a small site for a comic book shop
- Starting a small horror publishing company in the middle term future
And of course, the regular 9 to 5 and having friends (and tabletop games, lots of tabletop games) is all part of this too. I have no time whatsoever to be bored, and it’s awesome.
